RETIRED OR SOON TO RETIRE?

Retired members are encouraged to take part in all dental society functions!  If you still maintain your license and would like to sub-in here or there, please notify the office at  nkds.dental@gmail.com.  There are plenty of volunteer organizations that would love your participation and talent.  Some are listed in the "Get Involved" section of this website.  Please let the society know if you need assistance logging into the locked portions of the website.

The following are a few questions that might be helpful to those retiring or recently retired.

  • I plan to retire soon, but I want to maintain my membership.  How do I do that?  You obtain a "retirement affidavit" from the dental society, fill it out and submit it to your Executive Director or KDA upon retirement.  If you have achieved ADA Life status, your dues will cease the following year.  As a Retired ADA Life dentist, you will never pay annual dues again, but will retain your membership.  If you have not achieved ADA Life status, then your dues will reduce after submitting your retirement affidavit, but you will be billed this lower amount annually, until you achieve ADA Life status.
  • What is ADA Life status? ADA Life membership is available to a member who has been a member for 30 consecutive years or 40 total years, and has attained age 65 and is a member in good standing. Life membership is effective the calendar year following the year in which these requirements are fulfilled.
  • I'm a retired ADA Life member and I'm not getting my dental journals.  What gives?  The year following retirement, the Retired ADA Life member should stop receiving the publications from ADA and KDA.  ADA will send you a letter asking you if you'd like to keep receiving the journals and offers a special discounted rate for retired members.  For further information about ADA News subscriptions, contact Angela James at (312) 440-2867 or email  jamesa@ada.org.  To continue with KDA Today contact Melissa at KDA at (502) 489-9121 or e-mail melissa@kyda.org.  Be advised that much of the content in these journals may be located on-line at ADA.org or Kyda.org.
